Important - update on changes taking place from 9th November
We are making improvements to how patients access our services and how we work behind the scenes to support patient care. The following gives you an overview of what we are doing and why.
What is changing?
- We will have a simpler online appointment request form
- It will be possible to direct book some appointments via our website (more detail to follow on this)
- You will be able to request appointments via the NHS App
- As mentioned over the last few weeks, if we hold an email address for you this will be our way of contacting you. (We will still text or call patients who can't use email)
- New check in screens and digital screens in waiting rooms
- Many of the behind the scenes systems used by our team will be updated and improved
What isn’t changing?
- Same day GP triage of appointment requests
- Patients needing urgent care will continue to be prioritised. We will call you if you need an urgent appointment.
- How you find the online appointment request form on our website will not change - it will still be on the appointments page. (If you cannot use our online form, you can still call the practice or pop in and one of the team can fill it in with you.)
- Digital health support will still be available if you need help with these changes
- We will still text, call or write to patients who can’t use email
Why are we making changes?
- Our online appointment request form will be simpler and easier for patients to use
- We want to improve how we communicate with you. Email means we can send longer, more useful messages
- Updating and streamlining systems the team use will make us more efficient
How can you help?
This week:
- Check we have an up to date email address for you. You can check this via your NHS App or use our change of contact details form
- Share this news with people who might not otherwise see this
Over the next few weeks:
- There are lots of changes happening in the background so please be patient with all our team as we adapt to new ways of working
We will be sharing regular updates and reminders on Facebook and Instagram as the changes take place. Please follow us there for these updates.
