Practice Success At National Awards

Frome Medical Practice has been Highly Commended at the recent Health Tech Awards, in the ‘Digital Inclusion and Improving Health Inequalities’ category. The Awards, organised by the Health Tech Newspaper, help to share and celebrate digital teams, programmes and innovation that has made a difference over the last year. 

The practice was recognised for its work to bridge the digital divide. We offer over 13 hours a week of community based digital support, reaching thousands of patients, and can provide devices, data and hands on guidance when needed. Over 5,000 patients have received direct digital support, 450 free devices and 200 data SIMS have been given to patients in need,  NHS App uptake has reached 79% (higher than regional and national averages) and there has been a 69% increase in repeat prescriptions ordered digitally. As a result, patients report increased confidence in going online and a greater independence in managing their health. 

The practice is also a finalist in two categories in the General Practice Awards (GPA), the leading celebration of excellence in primary care, which take place in December. The practice has been shortlisted in the category for ‘Primary Care Network of the Year’ and ‘Sustainability in Practice’. 

Hundreds of nominations are submitted for the awards each year and the awards celebrate people and teams making a real difference across primary care. The judging process is rigorous and the shortlisted entries are recognised for their recent achievements, which are helping to shape the future of general practice and primary care.
