Unacceptable Behaviour and Zero Tolerance Policy
We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all our patients and staff.
To ensure this, we have a Zero Tolerance Policy towards any form of abuse or inappropriate behaviour.
What Is Not Acceptable?
The following behaviours are considered unacceptable and will not be tolerated:
- Physical or verbal abuse: This includes shouting, swearing, or any threatening language towards staff, doctors, or other patients.
- Discrimination: Any racist, sexist, homophobic, or other discriminatory remarks or actions.
- Substance misuse: Attending the surgery under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Prescription tampering: Altering or forging prescriptions is illegal.
- Property damage or theft: Damaging or stealing property from the practice.
- Sexual harassment or inappropriate gestures: Any unwelcome sexual behaviour or comments.
- Drug dealing: Engaging in drug-related activities on our premises.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour
If a patient engages in any of the above behaviours:
- Immediate action: Serious incidents, especially those involving violence or threats, may be reported to the police and can lead to immediate removal from our practice list.
- Written warnings: For less severe incidents, patients may receive a written warning outlining the unacceptable behaviour and the consequences of repeating it.
- Removal from the practice: Continued inappropriate behaviour may result in permanent removal from our patient list.
In cases of removal, patients will be notified in writing, and the reasons will be documented in their medical records.
Our Commitment to You
Our staff are here to help and support you. We strive to treat every patient with dignity and respect and expect the same in return. If you have concerns or are dissatisfied with our services, you have the right to register with another practice without informing us.
Let's work together to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
