Wild Memories – Frome, Somerset

Home Library Service

Somerset Libraries provides a Home Library Service, available to anyone who is unable to visit their local library. This includes people who may be housebound, living in long term care, carers, or people who are vulnerable due to long term conditions or disabilities. The service is open to people of all ages.

Mobile Library

The mobile library provides a library service to some rural areas in Somerset where there is no static library. It carries a selection of books, novels, large print books, books for children and audiobooks. You can also borrow DVDs on request. We regularly refresh the stock with material from other libraries.

SAW Somerset Art Works – Online Art Group 

We offer opportunities for artist-led, creative sessions focussing on teaching new skills, encouraging people to explore their creativity, express themselves, build confidence and feel more connected in the community.  For members of our community who are those isolated due to transport, rurality, shielding, caring responsibilities, or whose health conditions mean that getting out and about is problematic, the ability to participate in your own home, in your own time, in your own way, can be a much needed experience.

In the Frome Women’s Shed, women meet to make and mend things together, learn new skills, make friends, work on their own projects and on projects that benefit the community. Meanwhile, in the Men’s Sheds are kitted out community spaces where men can enjoy practical hobbies. They’re about making friends, learning and sharing skills. Many guys come just for the tea and banter – everyone’s welcome.

Frome Town Band

Frome Town Band welcomes all players & beginners whatever ability or standard. The band regularly plays at concerts, festivals, church services, fairs, fetes, as well as organizing fund-raising and PR events within the local community. An internet-based audiobook lending charity for those that find their illness, mental health, physical or learning disability affects their ability to read the printed word or hold a book. Virtual Village Hall

Brought to you by the charity, Royal Voluntary Service, the Virtual Village Hall is a free, online activity hub and community, designed to help people stay physically and mentally active, connected and having fun. No sign in or subscription required.

There are 12 to 15 live sessions every week and a library of 2,000 sessions to choose from, all led by expert tutors and presenters, including some well-known faces.
