Two More New GPs Join Frome Practice

Following on from the recent appointments of Dr Neha Bhagi and Dr Vicky Potter, we have now appointed two more GPs at the Practice.

Dr Nick Hopkins carried out his medical training at Cambridge University and Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He also trained as a GP in Cambridgeshire before deciding to relocate to the West Country, nearer to where both his wife’s and his own family live. Dr Hopkins is planning to specialise in the care of the elderly. He already holds a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine and works closely with the adjacent Frome Community Hospital.

‘It is great to be in Frome working as a GP here,’ says Dr Hopkins. ‘My professional colleagues as well as my new patients have already made me more than welcome.’

Joining Dr Hopkins at the practice is Dr Lucy Taylor. Having taken her medical degree at Oxford University, Dr Taylor then moved to the RUH at Bath, where she eventually undertook her GP training. After working for spells in both Bath and Shepton Mallet Dr Taylor is now pursuing her medical career in Frome. Dr Taylor holds a Diploma in Sexual Health and when the opportunity arises she would wish to specialise in both women’s health as well as palliative care.

Dr Taylor at one time used to live in the Frome area so she is returning to both live and work in an area that she already knows well.

‘The Frome Medical Centre is a great building in which to work and, as with my colleague Dr Hopkins, all of the partners and staff here at the practice (plus of course the patients!) have made me feel very much at home,’ says Dr Taylor.

Dr Helen Kingston is the senior partner at the Frome Medical Practice.

‘The competition to engage new GPs is extremely challenging,’ says Dr Kingston. ‘We are therefore absolutely delighted that both Dr Hopkins and Dr Taylor have chosen to join us here in Frome. The appointment of the best young GPs is just part of our plan to be able to deliver to our patients a health service that really is second to none. Everyone here wishes them both a long and very rewarding career here in Frome.’
