Practice shortlisted in national General Practice Awards
Frome Medical Practice is a finalist in two categories in the upcoming General Practice Awards (GPA).
We have been shortlisted in the category for ‘Practice of the Year’ and well known and much respected GP at the practice, Dr Helen Kingston, has been named as a finalist in the ‘General Practitioner of the Year’ category.
Being nominated is in itself a significant achievement, as hundreds of nominations are submitted for the awards. According to the GPA awards website, “The healthcare professionals shortlisted this year embody the dedication and excellence at the heart of primary care. Each individual and team has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of their patients and communities, showing compassion, resilience and commitment in everything they do. Their remarkable achievements deserve recognition, and the shortlist highlights those making a lasting difference across general practice and primary care in the UK.”
Managing Partner at the practice, Karen Creffield said, “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for two of the most prestigious primary care awards in the country this year.”
“Dr Kingston is one of nine GPs who have been shortlisted nationally. She has been a GP in Frome for over 30 years and last year stepped back from her role as Senior Partner at the practice, remaining with us as a GP. She was instrumental in our work on community connection, establishing our Health Connections Team and leading the way nationally on social prescribing. She has also led the way on sustainability in primary care and under her leadership we’ve been able to reduce emergency admissions of our patients to hospital. Dr Kingston is an outstanding GP, known by patients and staff for her compassion, wisdom and kindness. She has won previous awards, including a Point Of Light from the Prime Minister in 2019, and it’s no surprise to us that she’s reached the finals of the GP of the Year Awards this year.”
Winners will be announced in a ceremony in London on 5th December 2025.
