Information about the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP)

We understand that some patients may have questions or concerns about the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) and how health information is used and protected.

The NHS FDP is a national NHS system designed to securely connect information across the NHS, helping staff and clinicians access the right information more easily in order to plan and deliver care effectively.

Frome Medical Practice is not currently using the NHS Federated Data Platform. This means that we are not sending patient data from this practice to the Federated Data Platform, and it is not being stored or used there.

Patient records continue to be maintained within our existing clinical systems. We remain responsible for ensuring that information is handled securely, lawfully and only accessed for appropriate purposes. We are committed to keeping patient information safe and using it appropriately, in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Questions about national NHS programmes, Government policy, or proposed changes to legislation are matters for NHS England, Government and Parliament rather than individual GP practices.
