Join Us In Celebrating The NHS Birthday This Weekend

It's been quite the year for the NHS and on 5th July it celebrates it's 72nd birthday. The weekend will be marked by a number of national tributes.

On Saturday 4 July there will be a moment of remembrance and reflection for those we have lost during the coronavirus pandemic. This is a chance for the nation to come together and pay our respects. People are asked to place a light in their window or on their doorstep.

Then on Saturday evening iconic national landmarks will be lit up in blue, in a #lightitblue celebration of the NHS.

On Sunday the nation is invited to come together at 5pm for a #thankyoutogether to clap the commitment, courage and sacrifice shown by so many over the last few months.  Then at 5.05pm people are invited to raise a glass, mug or cuppa to thank each other – our friends, family and neighbours – for looking out for us, helping the vulnerable, or simply doing the right thing and staying at home. Afterwards people might like to stay outside to chat to neighbours, or reach out to someone who is lonely, isolated or stuck in another household, to let them know they are appreciated.

Locally, we will be thanking our staff, volunteers and those who have supported us over the last few months. We'll be posting a thank you list on our facebook page on Sunday and will be thanking staff throughout the week within the practice.

We are also lucky to have international artist Bruce Munro, famous for his immersive large-scale light-based installations, on our doorstep. He has built a fabulous Ribbon of Light tribute to the NHS, just over the border in Wiltshire.
