Welcome To Our New GP with Interest in Minor Surgery

We have recently welcomed a new GP to the team, further strengthening the Minor Surgery service we offer to patients.

Dr Ian Welch has joined the practice, having graduated from Peninsula Medical School in 2015. After exploring a range of career options, Dr Welch chose to pursue his career in General Practice, eventually joining the team at Frome Medical Practice and bringing with him valuable experience in general surgery and surgical training, which will now be of benefit to patients in Frome.

Dr Welch has a particular interest in Minor Surgery and will be supporting and developing this service at Frome Medical Practice, helping to ensure patients can access safe, effective procedures within their local GP practice.

Dr Welch said, “I am delighted to be working at a practice which is as progressive as Frome Medical Practice. My particular interests revolve around Minor Surgery, and we are fortunate to be able to offer this service to our patient population.”

“I am passionate about delivering appropriate, effective and safe surgical procedures, and about ensuring patients are satisfied with the care they receive. I am very much looking forward to working with the team to further develop the minor surgery service so that we continue to provide the best possible options for our patients.”

Dr Welch also has an interest in clinical research, an area that is often underrepresented in primary care. He added, “We are keen to pursue clinical research in order to better serve our patients registered at the practice, and I am looking forward to growing the research work we undertake at Frome Medical Practice.”

Karen Creffield, Managing Partner at the practice, said, “We are really pleased that Ian has decided to join us at the practice. He brings a unique set of interests and skills to the team, which we know will benefit both our patients and his colleagues. There is a high demand for minor surgery services within primary care, and Ian will be a key part of the team in helping us meet that demand by providing timely and accessible treatment for our patients. We are also excited to see our research capacity develop further now that Ian has joined the practice.”
