Healthy Homes team drop in sessions available at the practice
The Healthy Homes team are set to continue their popular energy advice drop in sessions at Frome Medical Practice in 2025.
The first session takes place on Wednesday 8th January from 12pm to 4pm and future sessions will happen every other Wednesday.
Councillor Fiona Barrows said “Energy costs are a huge concern for many people, especially during the colder part of the year. Being cold, or living in a cold, damp home is bad for mental and physical health.
Even if you’re lucky enough not to worry about energy costs, finding ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency isn’t just about saving money; it can also make your home more environmentally friendly and pleasant to live in.”
“The Healthy Homes team can help with a range of questions for tenants and homeowners, from quick wins to larger projects, and grants and interest-free finance for home improvements, plus emergency funding and how to react if you find yourself in fuel poverty. The team can also show you how to use the Fairer Warmth platform to keep track of information and solutions relevant to your home. These regular drop-in sessions at the medical practice launched in October 2024 and have been really successful. There’s no need to book, just come along any time between 12pm and 4pm, every other Wednesday, from 8th January.”
For those unable to attend sessions or who need more in-depth advice, the Energy Advice Volunteers also offer home visits. They will be able to help residents install simple energy-saving measures such as draught-proofing, thermal curtains, LED light bulbs, and radiator panels and help set up heating controls. You can request support via the Frome Town Council website or by calling 01373 480391.
Healthy Homes is part of the lottery-funded Green and Healthy Frome, a partnership between Edventure, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council.
