Plastic Free. Period – join, learn, explore, switch
Join us at two events in September to learn more about plastic-free period products and making the switch.
Plastic Free. Period, which is a unique collaboration between Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council and a part of Green & Healthy Frome, is hosting two enlightening events aimed at combating the growing environmental and health concerns associated with disposable period products.
Plastic Free. Period Town Hall Event
Tuesday 24th September 2024 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Frome Town Hall
Local people who are curious about simple changes, which can have a positive impact on pocket and planet, are invited to a thought-provoking evening at Frome Town Hall on Tuesday 24th September 2024 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Those attending will have an opportunity to see and feel modern, plastic free period and incontinence products, listen to some interesting talks, and watch films about the health and environmental impact of disposable menstrual products. The bar will be open so it’s a great opportunity to enjoy a social evening and learn how you can make the switch to more sustainable, reusable period products.
Cllr Fiona Barrows said, "Plastic free period products are healthier, cheaper in the long-term, and much better for the planet. We want Frome to continue to lead the way when it comes to thinking differently about sustainability and how we can benefit along with the planet. We want to raise awareness about plastic-free period products and encourage people to make the switch by offering a discount of up to 25% from various local and online businesses."
Dr Helen Kingston, Senior Partner at Frome Medical Practice said, "Being able to give away free plastic free period packs for Frome’s young people on pupil premium and all year 8 and 9 students thanks to the fantastic support of local people really is something to shout about. We’ve already distributed 110 packs for young people in Frome and we are delighted to have more to give away at these events. The packs contain three pairs of great quality period pants from Cheeky Wipes, a reusable pad and a wash bag – a great starter for young people to experience healthier, cheaper and planet friendly periods. We really encourage parents and carers to come along and find out more."
