Frome Medical Practice Nurse Wins Regional Award

A member of the team at Frome Medical Practice, Jo Trickett, has won the ‘General Practice Nurse Leadership Award’ at the recent South West Practice Nursing Celebration and Awards.

Jo is the Complex Care Team Nurse Lead at the practice and was nominated for the award following outstanding feedback from the practice and the Clinical Commissioning Group for her work as the Primary Care Network Nurse lead. This work has included leading a project on learning disabilities and providing mentoring support to other nurses across the Mendip area.

In addition, two other members of staff, Jude Tallin and Donna Perry of the Scheduling Team who were shortlisted for the ‘Unsung Hero Award’, were praised at the award ceremony for all their work supporting the nurse and health care assistant teams at the practice during what has been a challenging couple of years.

On receiving the award Jo said, “I am so proud and delighted to have received the General Practice Nurse Leadership award. The award recognises all the wonderful patient care delivered by the Frome Medical Practice teams.”

Karen Creffield, Practice Manager at Frome Medical Practice said, “Practice nurses are critical to the delivery of excellent patient care and the pandemic has been a really challenging time for them all. For one of our team to receive this recognition makes us incredibly proud. Teamwork is absolutely critical to what we do here at the practice, but it’s individuals like Jo, who share their knowledge and experience, that help the team to thrive. On top of her demanding role within the practice Jo also shares her skills across the wider Mendip area, and thoroughly deserves this recognition.”

Jo has a leading role within the Complex Care Team at the Practice. The Complex Care Team provides support to patients who have recently been discharged from hospital, those undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatment or those with other complex needs.

The South West Practice Nursing Awards are organised by the South West Regional NHS England and NHS Improvement teams and took place online in April. They are an opportunity to showcase exciting new projects, as well as an opportunity to recognise nursing excellence.
